God’s Good Gifts To His People
Wayne Rodgers
Isaiah 41:10
A. Let us look at
some of God’s gifts to His people.
B. Isaiah
lived about 750 years before Christ.
1. God tells
Israel they are special to Him.
2. God had
made a covenant with Abraham and they were His chosen people - His
elect.
3. Abraham was
recognized as a friend of God.
4. God was
their God - and the same God is our God.
A. “Fear thou
not; for I am with thee...”
B. Many
Christians lack the peace that God wants them to
have.
1. God wants
His children to be happy - to have a peace that passes all
understanding.
a. Joh
14:27 Peace I leave with you, my
peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be
afraid.
b. 1
Cor. 14:33 - “ For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all
churches of the saints.”
c.
Isaiah 9:6 - “ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace.”
C. We
today fail to accept His peace by
faith - the assurance of God’s grace and mercy.
D. The assurance of
God’s presence brings us peace.
1. He promised
to the Israelites - “I am
with thee”
2. May we
believe it.
3. May we
receive it.
A. “Be not
dismayed; for I am thy God”
B. Many people
seek security by acquiring substantial bank accounts, stocks and bonds, real
estate holdings, and cars, but still feel insecure.
1. Too many
put their trust in riches.
2. In material
possessions.
C. Security
however is not found in temporal accumulations, but in God who created the
heavens and earth.
1. Notice that
God told them, “I am thy God”
2. This is
true security - Phil. 4:19 - “But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus.”
A. “I will
strengthen thee”
B. Many
Christians fall short and become discouraged and full of doubt because they lack
the strength to perform the task God has given for them to do. (refer to Jer.
10:23)
1. God has
never asked us to do more than we are capable of
doing.
2. We should
all accept with faith the strength God has promised to give
us.
a
.”I can do all things through Christ...” (Phil.
4:13)
b. John
14:15 - “you cannot do anything without me”
C. Just think
what it means to receive strength from God.
1. When we
struggle with our faith.
2. When we
struggle with our marriages.
3. When we
struggle with temptations.
4. When we
struggle with finances.
D. How will we ever
be able to have the strength to make it through the struggles of life without
the strength from God?
A. “Yea I will
help thee”
B. Stamina
means: “Staying power, endurance” - webster
C. God didn’t
promise to do everything for us, but He did promise to help us through the
hardships?
D. We must rely on
His word and believe that He is helping us now -
1. vs.
13 - “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear
not; I will help thee.”
E. How was
Paul able to make it through all the hardships of preaching a unwanted gospel to
a lost world?
1. 2
Tim. 4:6-8 - “For I am ready to be
offered...”
2. No doubt he
depended on God.
A. “Yea, I
will uphold thee with thy right hand of my
righteousness”
B. Many
Christians are weak and unstable.
1. They rely
only own their own strength.
2. We cannot
do it by ourselves.
C. Stability
comes from God.
1. He has
promised to “uphold thee with the right hand of my
righteousness”
2. We need to
keep on praying, trusting, and obeying God.
3. God will do
the rest.
D. God is our great
stabilizing force.
A. God has promised
some great gifts to His children:
1.
Serenity
2.
Security
3.
Strength
4. Stamina
5.
Stability
B. The greatest gift however is His Son.
